FLETC Suspends Training at FLETC Glynco and Charleston in Advance of the Arrival of Hurricane Idalia

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) has suspended training for the Charleston, S.C. training delivery point (TDP) effective Wednesday, August 30, 2023, through Thursday, August 31, based on the current forecast and likely impacts to the area and TDP.
The FLETC Charleston campus will be accessible to all staff on Tuesday, August 29. However, starting on Wednesday, August 30, at 7:30 a.m. until Friday, September 1, at 7:30 a.m. the FLETC Charleston campus will only be accessible for personnel essential for critical operations during a weather emergency.
Wednesday, August 30, will be a “Shelter in Place” day at FLETC Charleston for all trainees. Hurricane Idalia is expected to track into the FLETC Charleston area as a strong Tropical Storm by Wednesday afternoon and continue to adversely affect the weather until Thursday morning. Training will remain suspended through Thursday, August 31. Unless otherwise notified, training will resume for all students on Friday, September 1. Please continue to monitor local media for additional weather bulletins and stay safe.

Due to Hurricane Idalia’s projected path, FLETC-Glynco, Ga., is canceling inbound students and temporarily suspending training effective Tuesday, August 29, 2023, through Monday, September 4, 2023 (Labor Day Holiday). Students will begin departing FLETC-Glynco following the completion of training on Monday, August 28, 2023.
The health, safety, and welfare of the full FLETC community is FLETC’s utmost priority. Due to the storm’s potential to impact FLETC’s ability to provide essential services, FLETC determined it best to evacuate students. FLETC’s emergency essential personnel will remain onsite to ensure the safety and security of FLETC-Glynco.
FLETC continues to monitor Hurricane Idalia and its projected impacts at other TDPs and aims to resume training as soon as it is safe to do so. For information and updates please visit FLETC’s external communication platforms (see list below).
