Glock Armorers Course Enhances Law Enforcement Readiness at FLETC
GLYNCO, Ga.— The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) hosted a Glock Armorers Course May 20, 2025, in Glynco, Georgia, with a focus on recertifying personnel on Glock Gen 5 semiautomatic pistols maintenance. This critical training supports FLETC’s ongoing mission to equip law enforcement professionals with the skills needed to maintain operational readiness and safety in the field.
The intensive one-day course provided law enforcement personnel and firearms instructors with specialized training in the inspection, maintenance, and authorized modification of Glock firearms. The certification equips attendees with the knowledge to disassemble, clean, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble Glock pistols, crucial skills for ensuring weapon reliability and reducing firearm-related malfunctions.
The curriculum covered a comprehensive range of topics, including field stripping, detailed disassembly and reassembly, safety procedures, parts replacement, authorized upgrades, and best practices for documentation and record keeping. Attendees also learned how to test firearms post-maintenance to ensure proper functionality.
"High-quality and proficient armorers are essential to the success of any comprehensive weapons program," said Robert Eubank, Special Agent, Army Department of Army Criminal Investigation Division, National Firearms Coordinator.
FLETC officials emphasized the real-world impact of such certifications. With in-house Glock-certified armorers, law enforcement agencies can save significantly on external repairs and minimize firearm downtime. This translates into enhanced training quality, increased safety, and greater cost efficiency. Moreover, certified personnel can serve as valuable resources for training others within their departments, fostering a culture of shared knowledge and operational excellence.
Participation in the course required a basic understanding of firearms and safety procedures. FLETC’s inclusion of this training within its armorer program reflects a broader effort to standardize firearm maintenance and elevate instructional capabilities across federal, state, and local agencies.
“Skilled Glock armorers are the backbone of any firearms training,” Keith Wensel, FLETC Instructor, Weapons Accountability Management Branch Firearms Division.
By integrating advanced manufacturer-level training, FLETC continues to strengthen the capabilities of law enforcement professionals across the country, ensuring that officers are equipped with both reliable equipment and the expertise to maintain it.
